SEFAA is growing thanks to you! Are we bursting at the seams? Not yet, but we are getting there quickly and will need to relocate in the next one to two years to improve and expand textile art services and opportunities for you. Think of larger classes and multiple classes and events running at the same time. Imagine a separate gallery for exhibitions, a dedicated maker space where equipment and supplies are available around the clock, and a larger, better-equipped wet studio. Add in expanded library and retail areas and additional bathrooms, storage, and parking and you’ve got the picture. Your donation today will fabricate that vision by funding the transformation of a generic building into a textile arts center.

We will start by adding a wet studio. Then, there will be more traditional renovations - for example, updating bathrooms, upgrading to LED light fixtures, and ensuring the wiring can handle multiple irons and hot plates without tripping a breaker. We estimate those costs will be $100,000.*

We have already saved a quarter of the anticipated renovation costs and will apply for a Georgia Council for the Arts Cultural Facilities Grant in mid-2024 for the remainder. However, the grant terms require that we raise an additional $25,000 in matching funds before applying for funding. That is where you make a difference: Your generous gift today will fill that matching donation bucket! Just, click on the button below!**

DONATE

If you need more incentive to give, we have you covered!

  • Donors who give a minimum of $250 will be invited to an exclusive Pre-Reception for our upcoming African Blues exhibition featuring the work of world-renowned Nigerian textile artist Gasali Adeyemo. While the exhibition itself has already opened, you will be the first to see/shop Gasali’s hand-dyed indigo clothing and yardage (July 22nd from 5 pm to 6 pm). You will also be entered into a drawing for two $50 gift certificates for the SEFAA Shop.
  • Donors who give a minimum of $1,000 will also be invited to a special meet and greet with Gasali on Sunday evening, September 10th. This is your chance to ask him about dyeing fabrics for The Woman King costumes, Yoruba culture, indigo dyeing, traveling, teaching, or  …!

Don’t delay, fabricate your future by donating now!

*For the numbers folks, we assumed 5,000 sq. ft. and $20 per sq. ft. which is on the low end of estimated commercial renovation costs.

**We also gladly accept checks, payable to SEFAA, and mailed or delivered to the SEFAA Center, 3420 W. Hospital Ave., Suite 103, Chamblee, GA 30341.
